System's Called Capitalism
It's economic, not connected with
our political or moral life, really,
except by forced metaphor
of oily Babbitts. At any rate,
no virtues its way. We could
easily exist under Socialism
or a something else unknown.
Western Europe seems to prosper
under a more mixed system, for one,
medical care far superior. & a right.
So don't hand me sacrosanct horseshit,
anymore. Capitalism is kind to many,
brutal to more. Free Markets (sigh)
also Fuck Markets. My odd cure, though, is to let
it fly! Complete laissez faire. Belay decayed
hypocrisy! Capitalism should be interested in only
the bottom line. No gestures towards
Little League or charity golf tourneys,
or underwriting safe art & drama. Or any-
thing to do with alleged public good.
To counter the inevitable bull market in
the antisocial & rapacious, we need
strong regulation, overseen by
professionals, not legislators
who are bribed so regularly it con-
stitutes our most vitriolic joke. So?
If this latest reform fails, then
let's try Socialism. Oh I know
that the party leaders 'll
place their kids in the top schools,
gaming as corruptly, but...we're talking,
by then, about the nation’s abject
despair. Last stop before bloody revolution,
now insanely courted by government & their
Capitalist gombahs daily.
