The History of Obsession---an insignificant fable

A strikes B in his vulnerable area, Pride.

A gloating, and B too downcast to play
retribution fantasies. Soon, however, he
starts assembling them.

They dominate for years. Opportunities
do occur, which he turns aside as trivial.

Finally, A killed by an old lady fresh from
passing her driver’s exam. He had been
crossing a rainy intersection towards
The Tuscany and dinner with his fiancĂ©.

B happy enough, but fuddled. The gorge for revenge
still, strangely, rises.

The last of his friends leave. Too much anger
at imagined slights.

He plots against them, but, hardly the quality of
his Grand Obsession. Loses the thread.
