Deciding. Not.
The Everyday Anti-Hero
-As I see it, all your alternatives
are lousy.
-I see it the same way, or ways.
-Flip a coin?
-That. Or do nothing.
-You have vast experience in the latter.
-With pride! My best decisions have been
nothing.
-Are you sure you're American? Frontier
Spirit? Can DO? Heart for every fate?
-I don't go there. It's nervous-making.
-Uh huh? Well, have we solved your little
problem?...asking with some sarcasm.
-Good as can be expected.
-How does your wife regards all this.
-Endlessly amusing.

Deciding Limits
-Well! Then! The Great Decision!
-Made! Clean and clear. Measured
and thoughtful.
-How do you feel?
-Immensely relieved!
-The step before disaster.
-You're joking!
-Nope.
-What...more can I do?
-I always add a little prayer.
-Hocus-pocus Department?
-Just hedging the bet.
-I'll stay with rationality. Imperfect
as I am, and it, but...
-Too bad. The successful man or woman
hedges.
-They’re fooling themselves.
-We're all that, I’m guessing.
-I’m through with guessing!
-You guess?

The Duty of Serving Genius
Carrying It Out
-Did you finally get hold of Mr Bigass Policy?
-Yeah. He said you handle it. That's not what he does.
-Yeah, me! The peasant!
-Whatever the Barons half-wittedly decree, ours, then,
the super-abundant headaches carrying it out! Oy!
-Like to get my hands on his throat!
-Ask me where our interview occurred,
where I finally caught him.
-I'm...wincing.
-On the country club verandah. They spend
half their lives there. “More gin than tonic
next time, Charles, if you please!”
-I'm a sonofabitch. I'm just a complete freakin...!
-Let's get a drink and not go back in there today.
-Not go back there? It’s chaos without us!
-I'll be a sonofabitch if you ain’t right! But I do wanna
make policy in the next world! Force peasants to dance.
Observe their natural rhythms.
-It’s sewed up there too.

The Bizarre Decision
And in disastrous aftermath, whence
algorithmic depth did you fetch
that from? As Wallace Stevens vacates,
you lay your brain upon a board and
pick the acrid colors out. But ex-
perience should provide a hedge
against missteps, no? Doesn’t, for
Mrs Poe's little boy Eddie posits
an Imp of the Perverse.
Who rides the bench, drying
his hands with a towel.
Itching to get in the game
and foul.

"Decision
'll be right since
you're making it.
It's your decision!"
After many years, soft-
ly wacky charm to
that advice. But I've
made doozies, bereft
of any sense. But they
were right, too, according
to my lights--which were
on dim. Oh well, consider
the process anew. Picture
matrixes of rationality,
quirk, and randomness
all going in and out
of each other. And the result?
Number with 10 brilliant
and 0 insane? Fanfare please!
Fanfare for the Common Schlub.
What’s that? Model too complex?
Let’s sample slot machine then.
