Deciding Limits
-Well! Then! The Great Decision!
-Made! Clean and clear. Measured
and thoughtful.
-How do you feel?
-Immensely relieved!
-The step before disaster.
-You're joking!
-Nope.
-What...more can I do?
-I always add a little prayer.
-Hocus-pocus Department?
-Just hedging the bet.
-I'll stay with rationality. Imperfect
as I am, and it, but...
-Too bad. The successful man or woman
hedges.
-They’re fooling themselves.
-We're all that, I’m guessing.
-I’m through with guessing!
-You guess?

Self etc Help
-Everybody's hot after these
Models of Behavior now.
-All over the net!
-How would you describe mine?
-Running in front of a tsunami and in
danger of tripping.
-That totally precarious? What can I do?
-Nothing.
-I could pray!
-As I said, nothing!
-God could grant me a few milliseconds a day!
Lay out my case.
-Not entirely impossible, I suppose.
-BREATH returns to me now!
-Oh ye of...Great Faith!
-Best I can do!
-Who knows?

Mercurial
Rip and Monica
Monica turned utterly sweet.
Next day, singularly vicious!
He fled by running through the
park. There colliding with a
dwarf on roller skates, who
sneered "I told you so! Didn't
I tell you?"
"How could you tell me? I never
met you!"
"Know-it-all!"
Following day, Monica beyond lovely,
and it led to mad sex.
Predictably, it wasn't long before
her scorched earth policy again
instituted.
“Enough!” she finally yelled. “I'm
gonna be steady-state from this
moment on! Not more ripping, Rip.”
Only joke she ever made, and she
enjoyed it, but moderately.
Ordinariness eventually led Rip to join
a group building a prayer tower in the
Colombian jungle.
Too much junk enabled them not to lay
stone one.
But, mellowed Rip, and he rejoined Monica
to speak of Jesus, though conservatively.
They got married in a storefront church on
a roaring boulevard.

Presence
Just before Delilah repaired to her little alcove for
The Late Show, she inexplicably opened up about
her former mother-in-law.
The astringencies delivered to a young bride from
a polite mask!
Clint said he'd pray about it.
“You can't have Faith for another person!”
Turning his back, he sunk to his knees, bedside:
"Called Love."
The next month they decided to sell off the retail
operations, concentrate on mail order and net.
Lorna worked in the original farm store, mid the
framed photo of son Hap, Delilah’s first husband,
lounging on the catsup Harley he killed himself with.
The new owners loved her sweet way with customers.
Named her The Tradition.

Barrel of Despicables
Prayer And Culture
-You've been described to me as godly.
-That's a stretch. I do pray.
-Well, I don't. I both envy you, and scorn you for being
in a barrel of despicables. Hypocrites!
-Not to judge. All faiths tell you that. And even Voltaire
instructed in cultivating your own garden.
-You're all set then. But I'm in motion, and can't quite get
to that garden.
-Must put that on top.
-And nothing tears at you in your benign...?
-Whoa! I haven't GOTTEN anywhere. It's a process of arriving.
I’m not immune to despair, depression. But I give them over.
-We part on that giving up.
-Enemies I hope not.
-Yes and no.
