As you age you dismiss
cagey riffs, everywhere
fatigued. Take music.
As classical stations pitch
frosted chestnuts, pop ones dish
new "arrangements" wrench-
ing banal to pompous. Forget
jazz, so ingrown, layered, solo-
ist proving the melody: him.
And nobody’s that interesting.
