4:30 AM NY Philharmonic TV JAN 1

Repeating a program of moderate rousers.

Just right...having not caroused.

Can you get music to act for you?

Better than nothing.

People are always saying

Gotta get motivated!

Doesn’t that just, like,

come along?

Round and Round

the Classical Sound
leaks classical gas.

So the young clamp
campified masks.

This bizarre dichotomy
scandalizes aficionados

till it becomes

Tchaikovsky

Was Peter Ilyich
a sexy sonofabitch?
Cashing in his chips

to mask a fatally queer mess?
Or did he swig–-more likely--
polluted water? Oh well, booze

and nicotine and compulsive
wandering rip in. Plus what is
noted depression today. And,

oh yeah, he wrote music
that one critic quipped
held stink you can hear.

That latter more often closer
to roses--and applause. So, on

balance, a surpassing romantic
composer. As for all the rest,
who has a skin thick enough?

God rest him
all road ever
he offended.

Riffs

As you age you dismiss
cagey riffs, everywhere

fatigued. Take music.
As classical stations pitch

frosted chestnuts, pop ones dish
new "arrangements" wrench-

ing banal to pompous. Forget
jazz, so ingrown, layered, solo-

ist proving the melody: him.
And nobody’s that interesting.

Young Classical Musician

-B Flat is interesting there, Mr__, though not what Mozart wrote.

-Should have.

-Well, I'll discuss it in heaven with him. In the meantime...

-let's pretend to live while dying.

-I'm sorry?

-I said my apologies, Maestro. Please continue.

-With your permission.
