Religious Rule
Nuns ascend, paired,
the long escalator
of the Sheraton Center
in Philadelphia.
Descending,
me,
alone.
Look back
to confirm.
Nuns nearer, by God,
to me inclined
to snap heads my way
and stare. And stare
so each flanking nun
gazes up to heaven
and the convention level.
What if it never ends?
