The Tumult and the Shouting Dies, The Captains and the Kings…
Drelle and Ensalore lived a Hallmark Card.
Sentiment flooded!
Until last year.
When both cheated.
The manufacturer had no category covering Backstabbing,
Though some light varieties implored a
kind of comic forgiveness.
Anyway, that and the usual syrup
totally inadequate.
Anyway 2, they’ve joined a group
dedicated to talking out personal
horrors.
She finds the fellows cute, he
the girls just so-so.

The Man Who Avoided Just About Everything
MARRIED!
You'd think, then, the end of this
irresponsibility?
You'd be wrong. His wife went along,
only stepping in when the particular
case egregiously selfish.
As a result, he maintained about 80%
of his former avoidance.
You may surmise here that he lacked
character, for why not be mindful
of those who tackle those situations
he slides by?
So, others contribute to his luxury.
His shouldering friends often look
prematurely old and lost, as if looking
for something they forgot which.
I'm trying to get some guilt into
him here!
No use. Allow me this vulgarity:
He doesn't give a shit!

Fate Awaits
and is nothing but patient
When the child in the man
went wild, insisting on
double portions in everything,
and stealing others' food, we
naturally turned to his woman,
balanced, mature.
A beacon of a real grownup!
Unfortunately, she had morphed
into a perpetual teen, dancing till
dawn with fellows of foreign names,
and waking up God knows where!
We asked Old Andrew, who'd been
through the mill and spat out twice.
"Only thing cures infantilism is tragedy,
so abrupt that even total goddamn fools
recognize it!"
Thus we go through life cringing, waiting
for something terrible.

Splits
Handling Things
-We can't be grownups in everything. Take your breakup
with Lynne.
-I still cringe walking through the public rooms we
frequented. Stopped going to Crazy Charley's altogether.
-That ended so very very badly, and no peace treaty or
anything.
-I send her Christmas Cards.
-Do you?
-Not!
-Infantile.
-Immature, petty, gratuitously hurtful, uh...
-Add stupid.
-Burning bridges with trembling relish!
-Relationships are not war. They don't work out sometimes...
usually because of one rigid personality.
-Yeah, that's me all right, iron bar down through my head and
out though my dick.
-It’s all so connected, and so thoroughly dumb.
-So I wasn't mature that once?
-Once?
-Well, really, how much are we grownup, and how much...?
-I'd say with sixty percent, you got one hell of a citizen!
