During the War
I fought on the Home Front,
chiefly by theft, bribery and
Black Market.
Patriotism was unpatriotic,
really. But never in words.
Having won, I realize the
Conquering Truth of our Bravery
in doing without occasionally.
Sacrifice, in short. For Nation!
Pride indescribable steels me now.
