"Through sepia!
I see them, hardly bizarre but really
only Ward and June Cleaver, Ozzie
and Harriet etc.
Everyone’s family odd! blah blah you say, and our friends.”
“Well, my one brother…!” I attempted to start. He all but shouted me down.
“But MINE TRIBE into seriously seriously insane direction. Pathological, criminal even.”
“Give me hint.”
“No, you must pay.”
“How much?”
“Dollar is fine. Symbolic. You’re never
actually giving it. It stays like this forever.”
(As a collector of foreign currency, I have
already put the dollar in a plastic case. )
And only if you’re very sure!”
“You’re acting! Academy Award!”
“No. You’ll never ever be the same.”
So, he told me. Whereupon, Cleo
and Mark arrived.
We went bowling, I think.
After not sleeping, I walk a few hundred feet to an area where redevelopment has repeatedly failed.
Grandiosely called “The Desert.”
Bury the dollar in its case.

Naked Parade
Hoogah Boogah
splits our
multirace community,
oldsters bringing
special horrors,
so Council braids
an age limit.
Daniel Slats objects.
relishes the screaming
at him mid snares and
bugles and power-
ful majorettes.
DACHAU DANNY.
LONG AND SKINNY!
SUCH A WING-
WANG THING!
And the little children’s
mocking dances as he leers.
They persist
till overtired
and crying
every year.

Love In This Time
The couple who itched together,
scratched together. Often with
chants and prayers and mantras.
Naked a good part of the day
to let the air get at them.
Medical Science supplied many
pills and ointments, of course.
But best relief came from a
goose grease purchased online
from The West Virginia Granny
Women, LLC.
They slathered each other at
bedtime, and then made a form
of ritual love.

The Ceremony
-Rough veined marble, ugly cube of it.
Just ritual. Do what the priest tells you.
It’s an honor though. I sponsored you,
I know, but can’t be there. Wicked flu!
...
-I heard. Horrible!
-He grabs the rock shrieking “Thus do I receive the sins of the world!”
A tremendous shudder! Then he dies.
-Oh my God! So very tragic! It’s my fault!–-
but I never knew him to be that emotional.
-Guess so.
-At any rate, that’s when my flu left. Can you beat that?
-A miracle!
-Whatever.
