Timing Amps!
Rentz hired Timing Guy and why not?
His softball career this season had been
merely competent.
No pop!
He wanted more. Not unrealistically so.
Not being slugger, thumper, he could
best contribute by increments. Pretty
good fielding plays, and singles
hitting. All-round hustle!
So what? Did the yearned-for girls
even notice.
No way.
So, life of moderate success can
be painful.
He broke through at the end of
an excruciatingly boring game
against Tip Top Real Estate.
Hit a ball, somehow, that took
a wicked hop and got through
their best fielders for the winning run!
Rentz, Hero! Mobbed by his team and
hugged! Wrestled down in mud and dirt.
Then the WAVE OF UNSTOPPABLE
WOMEN! Their kisses!
Now, Timing Guy is not a magician!
Luck brought Rentz, and team, victory.
But his services kicked in after the
celebration in twilight gloaming.
Unearthly! as the bullshit real estate
salesmen, collapsing, wept and
gnashed and moaned and screamed!
gnashed and moaned and screamed!
Their rapacious mouths glowing purple.
Anyway, their harrowed hurt made his day, his triumph, ever more complete!
“Planted a few suggestions beforehand,”
shrugged Timing Guy.
He accepted the new Visa with the chip,
and Rentz punched in a generous
gratuity!

“Team Concept
gone bananas!”
Exploded his leader, Marty Robb.
In partial explanation of transferring
Retzy to another plant of another
company in a part of town where
everyone muttered.
And the buildings the color of rancid
mud.
Stephanie joined the Marriage Team
there, a step guaranteed to lead
to divorce.
Retzy attempted to hook up very quickly
to the Retirement Team.
But was fired first, entirely without
benefits. Or explanation.
"You were a good team player for me,"
shrugged Marty.
At the delayed party for his leaving.
People chipped in when the hat passed.
The New Unemployment Law charging
the recipient.
The State collecting instead.

Their Batting Average
For Cause
Phoned the wrong girl for a date.
He wanted Cindy, a talky personality.
Then he could nod all evening, agreeing.
But he reached Mindy, a stone.
Well, she listened. His problem: the
Honor Society.
Neanderthal politicians attempting
to hijack it! Not a scholar among
them! you’ll have no trouble believing.
Mindy would help him fight! All his
causes, in fact, became immediately
fierce to her! Pattern.
No kids...decided after the first very
very serious conversation–-on a weekend
away from the pressing social external.
She did talk thereafter, and over the years,
but not too much small stuff. Always to
a purpose.
Fast forward to Social Security! They did
a lot together. Battles!
Victories! Some lasting, most not.

The Sad Art of Being a Yes Man
CEO
“I don't want individuals who are right! Or wrong.
Both in embroidered shirts.
That's cats and dogs!
Only the team has to be right. Japanese understand this.
How about me? I'm always right!
Joking, but I'm my only critic mid the deafening
ass-kissing.”

Winning and “Grace”
My team pulls one out
we should have lost.
It's a miracle and so crush-
ing to the other club
whom we hate. How rich
to lord it over them,
gloating. So so easy and
decidedly so Un-Playing Fields of
Eton and other gentlemen's crap.
Thus a kind of short, social rap then,
giddy revolution of the impotent.
