Role

Pops recognizes nobody visiting
the hospice.

Until he decides everyone, male and
female is Oswit Krelle, the veteran
character actor.

Indeed, he is also. And becomes more
animated in the process.

So, visiting at his bed, becomes Krelles
speaking to each other.

And, everyone catching the enthusiastic
fever, lots of pseudo drama and kidding.

When the doctors and nurses take it really
over the top, in costume, you’d think the whole
participation would get old.

But, not the case.

Pops eventually ceases being Krelle, and an hour
later, the actual Krelle dies suddenly at a Hollywood diner, choking on “steak” gristle.

Immediately after, Pops meets him in the “Tunnel,”which he had taken in his strange mind to visit.

Krelle quite amused at so many imitating him.
“I was minor. Makes me feel major.”

Pops tells him that he’s thinking of being a serial
killer next, but Krelle thought he’d lose the fun
of it that way.

Soon after, Pops dies, drifting away in quiet sleep
as himself.

The young doctors and nurses thought about kind
of Halloweening the memorial service, but
Dr Warren Hartz, Superintendent, warned them
against it.

Dueling Phones, 2066

Merritt Dash-Haas silenced his phone
which was a hot brick in his hand,

and blinking RED DAY!

Third time this month, and now with
pictures of people in earthquake and
wars, trudging to whatever will grind
them up.

“Not Red LETTER Day?” he laughed.
“Well, I’ll handle whatever!  Battle-
scarred me!”

But the phone warned he was ill equipped
for such bravery: Blinking 6,7s filled the
screen rapidly.

“I’m at 6s and 7s? No wonder! Life has kicked
the crap outa me this month.

So I’m to do nothing? Take it! Let it blow over.
Emerge so shaken that I...!”

Mercy-Dell Halloran studied him quizzically.
Soon, their phones magnetized and threw back
each violently.

She was on the ground when he got hers away
from her and flung it into Coxey’s Pond.

Followed by his.

“Might kill a few fish but...never an emergency
like this!”

These naive individuals went off with each other.

To God knows what forbidden destination.

Just a perfect capsule detailing the wilfulness
of today’s sexed-up youngsters!

The Vital Exercise

We climbed the rope ladder.

Carefully! As a team. Buck, Jasmine and I.

A wrong move could send the other two
smashing into the wall!

Anyway, slow process because of our ages.

Once there, we made sure to pull it up.

Just before the young wastrels packed
the courtyard, begging us to let it down!

Love the bitter looks waving over the
upturned faces.

As we thrust a unanimous finger at them!

Releasing

The Society

Since the young people were ordered to
perpetually work, they leased a hall
from time to time for an insane bacchanal.

Screaming “Fuck you! We’re not working now!”

The Song For Making Water

-The old men ask the gods for a stronger stream.

-WHILE you’re...? Strange.

-Not to us. We chant or sing though everything.

-So if I walk through the village, I’ll hear...?

-Constantly. In the morning the young men.

-Bragging of course.

-How they destroy rocks with their peeing!

-Makes me laugh, who has to keep up potency in
all areas. With a young wife.

-Our elders would never allow such a marriage.
The young should be like an explosion!
And the old, together in gentle farting.

-Not yet.

-You say, but the gods decide!
(sings)
Life is heaven-sent.
Beg them to relent
if you dearly wish,

But gods have made the dish
already.

-Not much for you to know then. The gods handle everything.

-Why we‘re so happy!

Youthe and elde oft at debaat

Youngsters spotlight
hypocrisy and hell-

ish lies of elders. Deny-
ing sin lurks within

acne-ravaged shells also,
they'll grow up nonetheless.

Demarcation line
being initial fish-
y look thrown by

a younger person at
totally fair utterance.

Young Persons

-I had a one night stand with a bum. So I guess that makes me
a bum. Well why don’t you say something? Jesus Christ!

-What’s the difference what I say?

-Look! Maybe we should get married. Oh Jesus, tell me what a fool I am even to suggest...

-Only sensible thing I ever heard you say.

-Timing. I‘ve been out of control all the time I’ve known you.
Ah what the fuck!

-We gotta do it small. Your mother will try to make a fuckin
fandango outa it for sure!

-Boy! How can you be the joker and then turn deadly
serious?

-Your mother has that effect.

-Welcome to the family.

-Mine crazier.

-Marriage made in heaven, then. But, are you one who saves
fallen women, and then tortures them daily with whack-ass
jealously?

-We’re all fallen. That’s the whole fuckin picture.

-Maybe...I can get a better bargain.

-I don’t think either of us can.

-This is it? Not like the fuckin movies, no?

-It’s a post-modern flick.

-Two crumb-buns?

-Too much drama. Let’s just say we know each other

A Point of Time

Pointed Time What'll we do with the young? Not a thing.
They'll take care of us. Prior to a neighborhood softball game,
the young guys vs the old, I stood, as always with the young,

They shove me to the other side.

...seeing the dust cloud now...

Choking Acid of it.

They laugh still. Still.

Game long, twilight quiets the
flaming girders above the factory.
