The Silly Equation

Lil and I the temporary engineering team.
She the creative, I, nuts and bolts.

We worked on a very minor, but nagging
problem.

An hour a day for discussions. We had
other things to do.

Retts stopped by and nodded at our
attempts. “Keep on it. Won’t change
the History of the World, but the
guys on the line will thank you.”

Then he said something that altered
everything.

“Well, I’ll see you in my dreams.”

When he left, Lil quipped “Let’s dream
about our tiny conundrum.”

Before you start with a sexual construct,
we’re both in secure relationships.

And, believe it or not, that’s the right word.
Secure. Odd one, but true.

Anyway, I went along with her. The one
ground rule was that we’d think about
the problem hour before bedtime,
later visualize the two of us solving it.

Pretty much a flop. I couldn’t remember
much of anything, and she just laughed.

Then one morning as I searched for Coffee
Mate, she remarked. “You at least came up
with a silly equation.”

I did I remember, but in a dream. We called
it that there.

I don’t know where all this could be
heading, but for the briefest, our dreams
entangled.

Well, I do. Management has submerged
us with other projects.

So, mutual dreams, if they occur, on hold.

Piddling problems often not resolved.

Due to work!

Getting It Together

Dr Petite announced to the European Consortium that the airplane would be assembled in  China or Alabama.

There followed lots of Alabama jokes: incest, moonshine, guns, and comical accents.
He told them that Alabama could actually edge China on low wages, and that was good enough for him.  As for the rest of it...well...ignorant people everywhere in the world!

The actual bosses a level above him chose both places.

Jenny the Runt was hired as a floater, first to be a sort of hostess dispensing coffee and tea to anyone touring the new plant.

A very pretty young woman, if tiny. And Dr Petite told her father that she was the equal of the beauties who did the job at the China plant. “And they’re professional movie actresses!”

“Don’t know no China people,” shrugged Horace. “Don't begin with N and that’s good enough for me!”

Personnel Problem in a Company Manufacturing Whatever

A Dread for Three Voices

“The guy is seething!”

“You should meet wifey. He’s a choirboy.”

“Well I hope they kill each other rather than one of us.”

“I’ve had it with him! I’m dumping it into Carl’s lap.”

“Enter Carl with ample lap, saying I heard it all.
Transfer the sonofabitch to Phoenix. I never met
anyone from there who wasn’t an asshole!”

“I’ll do the paperwork today. Just hope bodies don’t
start turning up in a couple of weeks.”

Hey! Who gives a shit? It’s the freakin desert! Plenty of
room before anybody notices.

One half the world laughs at the other half

Two Consider a Chinese Proverb

-How do we get with the laughers?

-Behave ourselves!

-Too steep a price.

-Wherefore is the modern Chinese in this matter?

-Too busy manufacturing.

-Yeah for coolie wages, so nothing changes.

-Don't go too Lefty on me! You'll ruin everything. I just got

two nice speakers.

-(sings) O sneakers and speakers and you-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo.

-Go permanently to the laughed-at half!

-I'll just laugh back. That's what you're missing in all of this:

full reciprocal thrust of the proverb.

-Who cares? They're inscrutable anyway.

-How're the speakers?

-Quite nice.

-Scrutable?

-Only the music.

Hymn

Legislature or Court provides lever and
Big Guy leaps on it.

"All manufacturing to Mexico!" Or the like.
"Make it happen!"

Then the nearly big guy whips the middle guy
in line.

The little guy, per the hoary interpretation
of Heaven's Plan, gets screwed.

Last line of every Republican hymn.

Congressional Committee

portraying Chinese
Rights Abuses.

Perhaps China could
hear from the long-

term unemployed here
in cloying Beijing hearings.

They could be later
bussed to meet those

performing their old jobs
courtesy of the Freedom
Fighters of American Capitalism.

The March of Whatever

Something feels not right and the machinist stops the process
to measure with his precision micrometers. Should scrap the piece, he thinks, but work has piled up.

The mechanic who must make the part function ends up cursing and applying a few mickey mouse solutions.

The consumer receives the product, its aesthetics promising
a rare perfection.

He ends up on the phone with a person in India.

The REPUBLICAN and the MANUFACTURER

REPUBLICAN
Freedom!

MANUFACTURER
Keep on with that one. We need the room to swing our elbows and knock out what's left of the unions.

REPUBLICAN
It's not free.

MANUFACTURER
A card of dedicated plastic says GOP!

REPUBLICAN
We can't afford a cooling off period.

MANUFACTURER
Believe me, smoke comes out of it. But you gotta help
me with these bankers. We're sitting on billions,
but with them it's trillions.

REPUBLICAN
They’re afraid.

MANUFACTURER
Just a hangover after their crooked pipedreams. That's what’s different with us: we make a product, real and palpable!

REPUBLICAN
Is it any good?

MANUFACTURER
I've lost track.

At the Big Box

-Where's the advertised one?

-Just as good, with the added feature of actually working.

-Where's it made?

-Need you ask? Built in Communist China by Capitalist slaves.

-And you want me to be complicit?

-We couldn't do it without you.

-Without sarcasm anyway.

-Coping mechanism.

-Mine's to buy endless shit.

-Building the nation!

-Yeah, China.
