I just know that she’s impossible!

I get teased about my robot girlfriend.

“Emily Bronte.”

Writer when it meant something.

The Programmer seems bent (Stop
right there!) on reviving such an
era, for I must submit my criticisms
of her in narrative form.

Most focus on her coldness.

His criticism of me, and hers, is that
I fail at warming her up.

Maybe I do, but I’ve tried everything!

Up(?) to the level of silly, impromptu
gifts. So juvenile and embarrassing!

Can one apply “frigid” to a robot?

At any rate, she has driven me
irredeemably nuts, and I probably
should consider other builds.

Another Emily looks promising, Dickinson.

But, my Emily has gotten wind of it,
and turns frantic!

She claims she’ll do anything to
keep me.

Anything!

Enter the sexy and romantic Emily.

Wow!

Next month pure ice again. Uh huh?

My narrative to the Programmer leaves
nothing out of this craziness!

Sordid pages and pages!

Then he comes up with the

BIG REVEAL!

She’s really a human female woman, and I’M the robot.

Build Number M-51186921, Raymond Chandler.

I’m offered robot molls from his novels.

Such sexy ones!

But I simply cannot leave my Emily!

Russia

-No Volga Boatmen?

-Disappointingly!

-Fetching Female Peasants? Or Krazy Kulak, dying, stuffs his boots with cash, drenches all with honey, devours the whole shebang so his heirs got squat?

-More modern than literary society with plenty of cabs and whores!

-No Babushkas either?

-Ladies available wearing same.

-And did they swish swish SWISH as you fucked?

-What a sick question!

-I was raised by women becoming men!

-Sound-effects enrapture most modern species.

Quotes for Life

-We walk the streets of life alone!

-Uh  huh? I hope that you’re not maintaining that YOU do.  Half into a mob most of the time.

-Gregarious!

-Lucky! Nothing recommends you as a friend. Selfish, scheming. You’d showboat tragedy!

-Guilty...if I bothered watching. Jeez! Everytime I find a good quote…!

-We deny you! So sad! Called knowing somebody.

Quotable

-When she died she left me
with a nice impression.

-You didn’t know her.

-I knew OF her. That was
pretty lovely...give and take.

-Superficial. Her AND you!

-I’ll accept that. Omar Khayyam
said he was never deep in
anything save wine.

Leave out the wine, we got you.

-“But I am one acquainted with the night.”

-Acquainted. That’s the keyword.
Nothing serious.

-It’s that way for everyone.

-This conversation over?

-This one only.

-Then I can stop wincing, waiting
for Hamlet to, like, emerge?

-Not tonight. “Look for me tomorrow,
you’ll find a grave man.”

-Serious?

-He meant dead. So, pretty serious.

-I’m running QUOTE BLOCKER on you!
People can talk without all this literary crap!

-Perfect program for the silly age.

Reality

-I read your last interview.
Please allow a temperate boo.

-I’m kinda forced to be the way I am.

-You mean similar to being the way you were forced to back when?

-Different ways, but, yes.

-Whatever happened to

I am the Captain of my Ship,
and the Master of my Soul! ?

-That’s Literature.

-Can’t life be Literature?

-Satire, yes.

Transforming Experience

-So many dreams and it
all turned into Lust!

-This is altogether bad?

-We had conversed, he and I,
of Literature.

-Ah! Language! A finer thing!

-And Physics!

-Big Stuff! Freakin MEGA!

-I don't know where it'll
end up now.

-Don't rule anything out.

The Woman Bored By Everything

finally tried reading, again.

But the authors too florid,
wrapping rhinestones in
platinum words.

And those whose tacked opposite
cast wisdom in asperity and just
sounded crabby.

Art helped her for a time, painting,
sculpture.

The more outlier and crap, the better.

A few shocks, a few laughs.

Her girlfriends recommended sex,
of course.

A week in the woods with a Polack
with a twelve-word vocabulary!

But, knowing her luck, said Polack
would not perform due to a massive
Mother Complex, or a nagging
vocational failure at Microsoft.

Was...she heading for that kind of
bitchy behavior which offended all?

Perhaps so, when she, instead,
discovered long walks.

Made no difference whether mid hot
concrete or cool dapples.

After, she breathed!

And not a thought.

Am I becoming a moron? laughed she.

Multiplier

-Hemingway? Fitzgerald? With Web might be millions!

-How about Ernie’s statue in Pamplona?

-Be thousand Pamplonas, and thousands of statues of various Hemingways!

-But, the one iconic!

-All will be iconic.

-Oh well, as Whitman said I am multitudes!

-He knew his shit way back when!

-Faggot too.

-I rest my case.

Art in the Modern World...

or something

-I’m Literature here!

Thus proclaims Clance.

-Well you better figure out what the fuck you’re doing?
All mixed up with bits and megs, and wondering where
to pander--if just TV.

-A confusing time, of course, but read my poems.

-Why?

-Cuz you can’t stop asking what is it,
instead of just making a visit.

-We ain’t got time!

The Future of Sex

Estelle-7 and Mona-4 couldn't stop
quarreling. Their human husbands
kept them apart, so the insults sped

electronically.

All to the effect of sex: which robot had
the techniques that madden thoroughly?
Insuring wondrous ecstasy! Uh huh?

The Robot World specialized in hyperbole.

And when the husbands didn't really seem
to care about the fighting, the state butted in.

The men ordered to sell the robots.

And take on Dorotheas. These models
discussed history and literature.

And joined civic groups.

Robot Resale handled the auction.
Winner of both: Rev Cotton Mather--
yes a descendent, but no fire-breather.

A temperate clergyman, though giddy
notes started creeping into his sermons.

Genre

Varied Literacy

-Guy walking to the end of a game. Expects scary math there.

-Is it Minecraft?

-Mycroft.

-So comic! Still besotted by literature, are we?

-TV, more.

-Not as artificial.

Lit and Post Lit

Our Various
Characters

-Behind that gruff interior...

-lies a gruff interior.

-And that sweet little one hides a well of poison!

-Ouch! How come those we know don't conform
to the lovables of fiction?

-Or the hateables? Well, ours don't hafta sustain much
of anything. But the writers of magazine episodes had
that problem. Thus do the two-noters stay the course
rather easily: whore with heart of gold, tyrannical boss
who’s a softie, etc. As do one-noters, such as outright
villains preparing to brutally grip dewy maidens.

-Next month: FATE WORSE THAN DEATH!

-Probably not. Anyway, all the folks we know possess
several notes, quite often clashing. And few are
genuine villains.

-They're working towards it.

-Takes some competence.

-Then we’re safe.

1,2

I told my agent to stop worrying. I’d wear the funny clothes
and give the speech. How do you say waste in Swedish?

What I’ll say is they finally realized video games are
the new literature.

I actually read it once, got a pulp sandwich. Went on and on about a bunch of Krauts in a hospital.

By Mann, a winner like me.
