Our “Celebrity”

-I thought this being-through
stuff was one and done.

Finally, "Get out! You stink!"

-Yeah, you'd think. But, a process.
I was to a party where you were
ruthlessly parodied.

-Love it! Young people with talent?

-To burn. Far exceeding the target!

-Every knock is a boost.

-All the cliches fit. The best one being...

-The Final Curtain?

-But you've locked your teeth therein.

-Musty!

-Both!

The Really Big Guy

-How did you become so thoroughly
an asshole?

-It started when I took the advice of elders.

-Always a mistake. They lie to entrench.

-And now it's hard to go through Google News
without something about me. At work--or
shudder--play!

-That latter has cost you dearly.

-Divorces and scandals! And no grounds in
either.

-Just extortions?

-Definitely!

-Yet you wouldn't trade it for a pot of gold!

-I've got that. Whacked, but intact.

-I think I'd like to try being worshiped also.

-You get so carried away, you join in.

Profile in Courage

Consider the chap

on a business campus,

clutched by some in-

testinal horror.

Genial to the other drones,

even fun, he takes a post

lunch walk alone.

and in a copse, next to

a brook that burps

agreeably, folds.

Quite   in    half.

Back to talk of sports

or celebrity gossip so

inane it can hurt.

Still, of course, in pain. Per-

petually, midst men and

women at extracting work.

More Things Remain the Same

Celebrity buys it: un-
der crap-mysterious

circumstance. You
preceded, big toe
sporting tag. So,

your routine lab work
tossed aside. Thus...
chilling much longer.

Leaving a London Club, notable couple disheveled -caption

Dwelling in Florida,
is there a way

I can leave
a London club?

Some teleportation
causing Paparazzi
frenzy at my mess?

A dolphin plays
below my window:

I can’t get infamous
like this and he,
Big Brain, knows it.

So stately his form, and so lovely his face

As little girls and silly matrons
genuflect, I can’t deflect their
adored pipsqueak’s name.

But switch whatever media
it’s slithering through. In

future, this shunning, im-
perfect as it is, will plainly
not be lawful. Big Brother

not only watching you, darkly,
but thrusting down your throat
the latest, awful Lochinvar.

Celebrity and Soon, More

FUTURE SENATOR
Trusted adviser!

ADVISER
Even for this new life?

FUTURE SENATOR
Hell yeah! Let's drink to it!

ADVISER
Lemonade, I hope.

FUTURE SENATOR
Yeah, since we've both ceased all forms of ingested shit.

ADVISER
I found out there's such a thing as morning.

FUTURE SENATOR
Me too. Pretty nice, mostly.

ADVISER
Depends on who you wake up with.

FUTURE SENATOR
Doesn't it?

ADVISER
Will you miss the variety?

FUTURE SENATOR
Huh?

ADVISER
Only present wife from now on.

FUTURE SENATOR
No Betty...or Butch?

ADVISER
Uh uh. Doesn't play in Peoria.

FUTURE SENATOR
What other way do you wanna put my balls in a vise?

ADVISER
You'll say what's pre-approved by me and the Party.

FUTURE SENATOR
Impotence to gain power.

ADVISER
And after also. The rest is illusion.

FUTURE SENATOR
I must be crazy to want the job.

ADVISER
Unparallel opportunities to steal.

FUTURE SENATOR
Check and double check. As you know, I pissed away just
about everything from the mega-celebrity days.

ADVISER
Everything but name recognition!

FUTURE SENATOR
Yeah, I got that, for better or for worse.

ADVISER
About half and half. They'll go after some of your quotes,
which I and my group have analyzed as one third inane,
one third incendiary, one third so vague as to indicate a cognitive disorder.

FUTURE SENATOR
Uh huh. Well I was flying or crashing when the
rabbit-ear reporters came around.

ADVISER
Our take is to laugh and then state that everybody grows up.
We're hoping like hell for a flood back home and you hoisting
the sandbags and pouring out the coffee for Real Americans.

FUTURE SENATOR
Hey I had enough of them! They stink, for one.

ADVISER
Just lodge this in what’s left of your brain:
they stink like money.

FUTURE SENATOR
Consider it lodged. It’ll fill the space where a
whole shelf just fell away.

ADVISER
And, of course, I was just kidding about stealing.

FUTURE SENATOR
About what?

Celebrity Dies I Never Heard Of

I’m incomplete con-
sumer of mass culture
and an educated snob bob-

ing through famous for allusions
by astringent wit, uh huh. All in

all, satisfied missing out on much.
TV the great time machine, yes?

Catch what was memory-
holed 30, 20,10 years ago.

Shows pretty good though
I condemned back when.

You sniff hypocrisy? So be it
for any particular moment.

Eventually we all prize some
half-ass stance from another.

The Public Person

flashes in a rank
aquarium, faces
pasted on the glass.

Sporadically desires
secrecy. The coral dies
without it.

Celebrity Dies

so it seems

hold our sick

focus, still
passes on

buildup as legacy,
bizarre.

Celebrity Peccadilloes

intensely analyzed
by a public who
should duck

Oh well, hypocrisy

The Celebrity Keeps Apologizing

Fashioning a cliché.
Sex churns actual
guts in the little shop.

Fee-Maniacs grease
Pound of Flesh

Machines. Even the kid fetch-
ing coffee gets something

lopped off
in the rut
of Justice.
