Conversation Without a Date
-Do you have the moral authority
to dismiss me?
-What do I know from MORAL?
I have the Business Authority.
-It's because I'm a Jew!
-That never helps.
-There are LAWS in this country!
-Lovely ones and they sound beautiful!
Like they do everywhere.
-You haven't heard the last of...
-Strange! Because I believe I have.

Humble Pie,
Sliced Thrice
-Famed in song and story!
-For your humility.
-I blush!
-Don't! Others set the table,
and you moved the plates and
cutlery around.
-Looking pleasant.
-Or faking it.
-Skip the humble in the next life?
-Wouldn't hurt to blow your own
horn once in a while.
-What, blow? Just the merest tootle!
-Let us know you're human.
-So I should have balanced off...?
-Couldn't help yourself!
-Too much power in humility!

The Meaning of Something
Mr Nevers was perfectly nice.
-Well! Then! Is it A or B?
Jordan was sure of A, and
Louisa pretended to be.
But she couldn’t keep it up.
-We need more time!
So, Nevers suggested a fifteen
minute break.
Whereupon Louisa brought out
the guns previously sheathed.
Outcome?
-I’ll go along with you, and B, if you’ll
just shut up!
Thus Jordan worn down. Another of
her little victories.
When the conversation resumed
with Nevers, the smiling man
accepted B, but mentioned that
the computer had suggested C
and that he, himself, was confident
in D.
Louisa took them all on. No machine
or bureaucrat or husband would
defeat her. End of story.
Except for your opinion. The decision was
1 Right!
2 A disaster!
3 The usual inconclusive mishmash.
4 Forgotten, anyway.

Mail Ego
The Plan
Marty asked if the mail had come. “My box empty,
so I can’t be sure.”
Girlfriend Brill snapped while extracting catalogs from
hers: “Self! MY box...my freakin everything! Ask how
to SERVE!”
“I know! I’ll patrol the lobby, day and night! Whenever
the erratic mailman arrives, I’ll know. And knock on
every door!”
That’d be a start, but it’s all too late!” she hissed.
He laughed insanely. Secretly planning Tuesday,
a week: The Kissoff!...his part in rehearsal.
Elevator came. Farewell, Brillo!...nearly.
Exulted deeply he in thought as she pushed the
buttons for their two floors.

Power and Precision
-How much does it weigh?
-Do you mean here?
-Okay, let's assume in our further discussion
that we're referring to this latitude and longitude,
and not Mars, or Fiji, or Jackson Hole.
-Two-point-two kilos.
-How can your wife stand you?
-Who cares as to her trivial likes and dislikes!
-Ah hah! Sounds like Mr Precision gets Aces
slapped down on his little power-hand.
-Two-point-two kilos.

Imagery of Structures
-Letzi says she won't be an Aunt Jemima!
-I can hear her. Does she do nothing quietly?
-Her boyfriend puts cotton in his ears, but
takes it out when they do it.
-More than I want to know. But, anyway, she's white.
-Last time I looked.
-So, what's with the Aunt...?
-Burks, in Shipping, is white, but they call him Uncle Tom.
-So this plantation imagery has invaded our fair firm?
-You could put it that way.
-What? If you're inarticulate?...if I read your tone. At any rate,
Max, I wonder if those terms don't fit SOME power structures.
But, not here!
-Nevah!
-Look, you're middle management and I , ahem, upper.
-Just the facts, Man.
-And yet we rib the shit out of each other playing softball.
No class crap here!
-None. Squat. Zip. Zilch. Zer-er-O!
-Right! Example of how things should be!
Mr Ralph leaves, and Heskey, the fresh intern, tells Max
-You're such a freakin Uncle Tom!
-Survival of the Flatter-ist.
-You gwine t’lunch? Ah be.
-Can’t eat with field hands.
-Yeah! Just with House Nig-
-You studying company handbook? If you come up
looking stupid, it’s MY ass gets burnt!
-Must you interrupt?...de-dupt, de-dupt, de-dupt?

The Man Who Forgot Everything
Eventually, as expired Mom had
predicted, his name. Found it,
of course, on bank statements
but enough was enough.
Changed legally to Huggert Dahl.
The women liked the Dahl part
since he was blankly handsome.
And the Huggert gave them excuses
to hug. Darlene, as per her nature,
proved the most passionate.
And the most insistent. They marry.
When friends throw rice, he asks
what that is. Truly,
never mind. Recalls enough for her
to leverage direction. One must, she
feels, in every match.

Green Chronicle
Latest edition of his history of the club featured the new
President on the cover, sitting with him on the famous bench
off the first tee.
He couldn't play with him, though. Three others had flown in,
their helicopter landing next to Marine One.
"Not you, of course! Billionaires, not peons!" remarked Assistant
Professional, Bert Sommes. Socialist Bert.
His editor concocted five pages describing the visit, including
the President going into the kitchen to ask Andre to deep fry
a sweet potato. Never happened.

Got It?
Word prevailed then
among friends:
POWER!
Say your boss constructs
a Hell for you? Only if
you give him the power.
Well, example sucks, since
his is hardly illusory.
Better fit in personal. Your
Significant Other yanks
you around mostly
because allowed to. So,
couples start seeing
relationships like nations.

Safeguards,Disaster
Bright Future
-It's Ecology up the whazoo! We got safeguards
on safeguards. This pipeline is just about perfect!
-Which means it will leak and, one day, explode.
Turning a good part of Nebraska etc black.
New variety of corn, anyone?
-Uh huh? And the poor widdle fishies and birdies?
-Why ask since you don’t care? But go ahead and
Elmer Fudd everything!
-I DO say: Fudd Everything!
-All is trivial!
-Wise! Well, anyway, no filthy mayhem will ever get to
The Lake, where Lindy-Ann and I are to retire toute suite.
-You jettison the mistresses?
-And she the boyfriends. We're prepared to grow up.
-Wow! Giving up all the Power!
-That what this is, huh? Kissing multitudinous ass
equals Power?

Nod to Zombie Craze
Assumption
If you get anywhere in
anything, this person
will push a bet, seeking
outsized influence. So, enough,
you'll be possessed as zombie
for grimmer enterprise.
Best to act then. Murder, if
not off the table. Otherwise,
Siberia in effect.

-Like we need more Art History Majors?
“At this time, Picasso lived in the South
of France.”
-And fucked. What else would you do there?
-The party's not concerned with them.
But other, more symbolic, individual parasites.
-Have a nomination?
-There's one guy, plays tuba, but his repertoire consists of, like, minuets.
Total asshole!
-Does he pull it off?
-Probably, but that's another topic.
We're talking music. And mincing.
-Hah hah.
-I'm zeroing in on him.
-To what end?
-His.
-Trial?
-We're holding it now. You and I.
-Guilty!
-I'll AK-47 him at foolish rehearsal. Clean through!
-Tuba also? Too bad! Anyway, dying for something that petty! Oh well, I’d
withdraw my verdict in an important matter.
-Hey, the party has done right by me. I'm returning the favor. Ours not to reason why...or something like that.
-Uh huh? Power corrupts and absolute
power corrupts absolutely. Heard that one?
-Heard it? I’m enjoying the shit outa it!

1) Stay-at-home wife, sugary, quite pretty and witty in
non-threatening ways. As she runs parties etc.
The Ambassador and his wife love her! No exaggeration!
2) Mistress, much involved with hair and nails and him.
Talks celebrity nonsense easy to tune out.
3) Hybrid, tough businesswoman fighting alongside.

shoving down a peculiar MBA problem for the nonce.
